I take great pride in providing timeless wedding photography in Lake Charles, La. and beyond. Wedding photography isn't a career for me as much as it is a blessing to get to play a small role in capturing the lives of people who trust me with it. I don't take any of this lightly.
My name is Zakk Miller. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer in Lake Charles, La but I grew up in Alexandria, La. My wife and I have been married for what is about to be three years now. We love our city and the weird, quirky, unique individuals that come along with it. I have also spent the last year on a project named "Activate Worship". This is a project where I have chosen to teach technical and theoretical skills to volunteers of the local church.
I have gotten to travel across the US for photography clients whether it's a wedding or a commercial session, it's one of my favorite parts of the job. I've also had the extreme honor of having worked with Anthony Mangun, Tauren Wells, TBN, and other awesome clients.

Q & A
1. How many hours do you need to photograph the bridal party?
2. What type of equipment do you use?
3. Who is in charge of booking backup locations?
4. How will you (and your second shooter) be dressed?
5. If my event lasts longer than expected, will you stay? Is there an additional charge?
6. When and how will I receive my photos?
7. Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?
8. Do you mind working with videographers?
9. How should I backup my photos?
10. Where can i find my balance?
I request a minimum of 1-2 hours. That doesn’t include drive time or family photos. The more time you give me, the more photos I can give you.
I currently use a Canon 5D Mark III. I have multiple lenses that I can use during the day, including a 50mm F/1.2L, 35mm F/1.4, 50mm Macro F/2.8, 85mm F/1.8 and 100mm F/2.8. I have a Canon 6D Mark II along with other lenses that I use as my backup gear.
As per the contract, this is your responsibility. I am NOT in charge of any location bookings. If you choose to book a backup location, I can help you with ideas but the booking needs to be made by you. (As long as it’s not pouring, I usually recommend you get some rubber boots and umbrellas and just try to embrace the day for what it truly is.)
I usually wear dark clothing. Dark denim and a dark button down shirt. As I am on my feet for 6-10 hours, I wear clothes that are condusive to a good workflow. My second shooter will be dressed similarly.
There is an additional charge (determined on a case to case basis) for keeping me later than originally contracted. We have an in depth conversation the week before your wedding, so this is usually not an issue.
You will receive your engagement photos in an online album while your wedding photo will be on a USB. You can expect them in approximately 2 – 3 months after the wedding.
Absolutely, but this is not necessary. Keep in mind that I am not looking to outright copy other photographers in their work, but prefer to have creative control. That said, I’m all for shooting a few ideas you have if I haven’t already photographed them!
Not at all! As long as your videographer respects the visual space (ie. not parking themselves in front of the altar for the entire ceremony) we will be just fine! Just be aware that we will most likely show up in each others shots from time to time.
I recommend you purchase an external hard drive to back your images up to. Keep in mind these units will fail in time, so make sure to change where they are backed up every couple of years. And make sure to print your images!
Each time you make a payment on your balance, you will receive a receipt of payment that will also include your
remaining balance. Per the contract, your final payment is due no later than two weeks before the wedding.
